Anskar Beau is a German-French artist, born on November 28, 1993 in
Düsseldorf, currently living and working in Copenhagen.
His practice moves between classical painting and contemporary image-
making, exploring the conditions and relevance of painting today.
Using a self-developed transfer printing technique, Beau merges digital
photography with painterly gestures on canvas.
Through this process, the photograph becomes part of the painting, not
just as a background, but as an active component of composition and
meaning.
Anskar Beau embraces the tension between tradition and modernity,
not to resolve it, but to make it visible.
His work invites reflection on authorship, materiality, and the evolving
role of painting in a post-digital age.
Art history informs his practice as a resource to engage with, reinterpret,
and transform.
